What a Day

It was cold and rainy here today... mommy was worried about how we would fill the day with enough activities to keep me busy. We ended up not having to worry about that concern at all...

Daddy took me on an adventure to the store and then to Barnes & Noble. Casey was not feeling so great and had a bout of diarrhea so mommy called the doctor. They wanted to see him right away. He was not looking so good when Dr. Warfield looked at him. He was looking a little dehydrated (eyes a little glossed over, dry lips, the soft spot on his head was a little more sunken in, fussy, etc) so he sent them to Georgetown. Mommy called us on her way and we met them over there. Papa met us there too. We were there for a few hours. Casey perked up right when daddy and I got there (probably because he just loves me so much). The doctor thought he looked pretty good but since he was refusing to eat or drink anything, and since we were there, we all decided it was best to get him some fluids.

I insisted on watching them put Casey's IV in. Mommy and daddy thought it might be too hard for me but I really wanted to watch. Mommy and daddy helped hold Casey down and Papa held me up so I could see. They only had to stick Casey twice. He was not a big fan but the staff there was wonderful and they did a great job. Casey took 280 mLs of IV fluids. His blood work looked okay and, while they were a little concerned because he was still refusing the bottle, it was very clear that Casey wanted out of there (he screamed for over 30 minutes so they probably all wanted him out of there). They let us go home.

When he got home, he actually drank 6 ounces of pedialyte and then another 4 ounces before bed. The explosions continue but we are hoping he is slowly on the mend.

Keep your fingers crossed that the little guy can get some sleep and feels better tomorrow.

Oh, and while we LOVE Georgetown for taking such great care of Casey today, we still hope that ND beats them in lacrosse tomorrow to improve to 8-0 on the season. GO IRISH!!!
